This project was an assignment to make a specimen booklet showcasing the font Avant Garde. I began my process by researching the typeface and finding examples of the font in use, along with other specimen books I could use as a reference. After compiling my research, I started doing rough digital sketches where I played with page layouts and sizes. I then moved on to doing more detailed, cleaner sketches. I did these in black and white so I could focus on laying out the type.

After finishing the sketches, I began playing with different color palettes, and I decided on using the one with teal, yellow, and pink as its main colors. I chose these bright colors so that I could use simple visuals to match the simplicity of the typeface, while keeping the designs high contrast and visually interesting. Once I was happy with my sketches, I moved on to the roughs where I created cleaner versions of my original designs using my chosen color palette. After some critiques and peer feedback, I made my final iteration.
